There is a very loyal fanbase for the Tremors films. And for good reason. The movies are fun and never take themselves too seriously. Given that Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson never planned on the movie being a series they found a great way of continuing the story and evolving the creatures in what felt to be a very natural way.
In the first film of the series we see the Graboids. In second film we see them evolve into Shriekers. In this film we seethe last stage of their evolution as they turn into Ass Blasters (ugh, these names).
This film takes us back where it all began – Perfection, Nevada. We see a lot of familiar faces, including Melvin who wants to turn Perfection into a bunch of track houses. Then Graboids show up again. It’s not long before they turn into Shriekers. Burt and his new group of people can’t get to the Shriekers fast enough and they turn into the last stage of their life cycle – Ass Blasters. These creatures hunt by sensing heat just like the Shriekers but have the ability to fly so they can spread their eggs across far distances. The eggs lay dormant for hundreds of years and then hatch into Graboids.
The movie stood up well to the previous sequel but Palestine in comparison to the first movie. Still, if you’re a Tremors fan you will enjoy it.
3 out of 5 stars.
